Sweetlight is kicking in a extra "Magic" lyric book, the one Sony sent out for free with pre-orders of the cd. (For anyone who hasn't seen it -- it is a little bigger and nicer than the booklet that comes with the cd -- don't have the exact dimensions because the cats stole my ruler but, it's around the size of a dvd case, I guess, and about as many pages as an average cd booklet.) NIGHT-BEFORE PARTY VENUE:
A group of dynamic business owners and music lovers who promise to welcome us and make sure we all have a good time has generously agreed to provide their beautiful, big bar/restaurant for our party on Thursday, 8/14.
The party will be from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Gas Knob Pub. Info about the Pub can be accessed off their promotion manager's Myspace page: www.myspace.com/gasknobpub Note that we are in their calendar, but clicking on that particular link leads you nowhere. All the info is here.
The Pub is in a very nicely remodeled building that comes with a great bar inside and two nice patios with stages and bars outside. One of those patios will be reserved for us, though people will have access to whereever they want.
The pub is an easy five-minute drive or cab ride from downtown and is right next to the Arena http://www.jaxevents.com/veteransmemorial.php where the concert will be held! We will be providing a map for the safest, quickest route that will also include parking tips for the two garages and on-street parking just outside the pub.
LIVE MUSIC IS SCHEDULED! Our primary player is scheduled to be Mike Shackelford www.mikeshackelford.com a locally accomplished musician and Bruce lover who promises to bring his acoustic guitar and harmonica and sing the night away with us. Mike may also be bringing a guest or two or three. Other offers of Bruce-related entertainment would be welcome. Please PM us.
A variety of beers, wine and other alcohol will be for sale, as will food. Local media is likely to cover the event. The owners have said security will be provided.
We will be sharing the large pub with folks coming from the AA baseball game across the street in what is one of the nicest minor league ballparks in the country. Those of you who are interested can take in all or part of the game before heading over to hang with us. www.jacksonvillesuns.com
PARTY T-SHIRT SALES: T-shirts are being designed as we speak $15 a shirt, with costs above and beyond to be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. To put in for yours, just post and give a size. Make sure you PM Boss Angel. Shirts will be given out at the party, unless other arrangements are made.
PARTY RAFFLE: We are also working on additional plans for a RAFFLE to raise money for the local food bank. www.lssjax.org (check for Second Harvest Food Bank under "programs"). We've reached out to Bruce-related authors and others to donate materials and have had an overwhelming response. Local Food Bank officials have committed to being at the party to help! DAY-OF MEET-UP
The Gas Knob Pub will be open from 11 a.m. until well after midnight on Friday, the day of the show. Folks can gather whenever they want, either for lunch, or pre-GA hang-out or whatever. The Arena is literally NEXT DOOR! And the owners will be ready for us. (No organized events planned.)
